How to Make 4th of July Fruit Salad

Slice about ¼ inch off the bottom of the watermelon lengthwise to create a stable base.

Draw zig-zag lines for the basket opening with a pencil, then cut along the lines with a paring knife to remove the top section.

Scoop out large chunks of watermelon flesh and cut them into 3×3-inch squares. Trim ¾-inch thick slices from the squares to cut out stars using 1½–3-inch star-shaped cookie cutters.

Use an ice cream scoop to remove additional flesh from inside the basket, cut into quarters, and place in the bottom for a fruit salad. Add honeydew and blueberries and stir to combine.

Cut thin white stripes from honeydew for decoration.

Garnish the top of the fruit salad with the watermelon stars, honeydew stripes, and blueberries.
