Delectably Sweet Dessert
Did you know that the Whoopie Pie actually got it’s start in Pennsylvania?
The Amish women, who as a habit didn’t like to waste anything, would find they had extra batter when baking a cake.
They would take the excess cake batter and drop it into mounds on a sheet to bake.

They would then take those two mounds, put some cream between them and created a cake and cream sandwich treat.
I’m not sure how it got it’s name.
According to Amish legend, when children would find these treats in their lunch bags, they would shout “Whoopie!”
I mean seriously, who wouldn’t?
Maine has even claimed the Whoopie Pie as the official state treat of the State of Maine.
There’s even a Maine Whoopie Pie Festival every summer in June, which actually sounds like a blast!
