What Family Adventures Await in Gulf County, Florida
We just can’t get enough of Florida’s amazing gulf! We find ourselves heading back to the shores we know and love a couple times a year.
Although people usually think of heading down to the gulf for holidays, have you thought about heading down there this fall?
Now’s the perfect time to get in on some fun family adventures that will quickly turn into wonderful traditions.
Family Adventure in Gulf County, Florida
I’m having some fun today looking over some of the memories I’m going to create with my own family next time we’re in Gulf Country on the Gulf County Adventure Guide.
Turtle Treasure Hunt
My youngest son is obsessed with sea turtles. I honestly think it’s his animal guide he’s so connected with them. Wouldn’t it be amazing to take him on a turtle patrol?
Adventure guide Jessica Swindle gives visitors a chance to view baby sea turtle nesting in the highest density-nesting beach in North Florida.
Taking only four people at a time, visitors help her look for signs of nesting and participate in the process of protecting loggerhead turtles. How amazing it that?!?
Kayak Through the Dead Lakes
One thing about traveling to another part of the country is appreciating the ecosystem. It’s so unlike anything we’re used to!
If you kayak through the Dead Lakes when the water is low, you can see the stumps rising out of the swamp.
The stumps are so concentrated in the South Flats, it’s almost like being on another planet.
Watch the Dolphin Parade
Dolphins like to feed at night, so dusk is the perfect time to catch a glimpse of the dolphins from the shoreline.
We love setting up our chairs and being on watch to see these creatures pop up out of the water.
And as a bonus, we stay to watch the sun go down. We’ve seen some spectacular sunsets!
