History of the Cobb Salad

Cobb salad is a classic American dish that originated in Los Angeles in the 1930s.

It was created by Robert H. Cobb, who was the owner of the famous Brown Derby restaurant, a popular hangout spot for celebrities. One night, when he was hungry but couldn’t decide what to eat, he decided to make a salad using ingredients that he found in the kitchen.

He mixed together lettuce, avocado, chicken, bacon, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes and Roquefort cheese, and then added some vinaigrette dressing.

The salad was an instant hit and became a signature dish at the restaurant.
