Summer Reading Challenge for Middle School

I have two middle schoolers in my house this summer! And I feel the need to create a summer reading challenge for these boys!

One is a fabulous reader! The other one — well, let’s just say he has a long long list of what he’d prefer to be doing rather than reading.

To get my younger middle schooler into reading, I still read out loud every night. Yep. Every. Single. Night. It’s a wonderful ritual that we all adore.

Don’t miss out on other age-appropriate summer reading lists for all the kiddos – from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade!

You can find these summer reading challenge books of 2019 at your local library or purchase through the affiliate links provided for your convenience.

And a special thanks to the Association for Library Service for the wonderful summer reading inspiration.

This year I read Ghost out loud to my boys.

Hands down I think this was their favorite book I’ve read to them all year – which is why it’s part of my summer reading challenge this summer.

It touched on real life, the hardships and the triumphs. Quite the amazing book!

  1. Nice reading list! Many of these books I have not seen on other lists and they look like great selections. Thanks!

  2. Was hoping you were able to get the Marco link into some sense of shape and order.

And I am looking forward to the book about the moon landing – it’s a big thing this year.

I wonder if you watched the moon when you were the boys’ age and wondered about the landings and launchings?

I love all the Latinx connections too. Gracias!
