When you first find out you’re pregnant, there is so much excitement.

You tell your friends and family and then you spend the next few months getting excited about the baby to come and becoming a first time mom.

3 Lessons I Learned as a First Time Mom

No one tells you about the amount of sleep you will not get, especially if this is your first one.

I’m not talking about a few hours missing here or there, I’m talking several hours.

I’m not trying to scare you, but you will basically be drinking coffee through an IV for the first year of your baby’s life.

You’re so tired that you forget essential things like putting the filter in the coffee pot or putting a diaper on your baby before putting on his/her clothes for the day.

There were some days I just had to laugh at myself.

Here are 3 life lessons learned from being a first time mom:

1. Take turns caring for baby at night with your spouse.

You can each take turns “working” the night shift.

There’s no sense in you both being sleep deprived.

2. Ask for help when you need it.

No one is perfect and sometimes you just need an hour or two to feel human again.

3. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.

Being a new mom and dad is hard, which is why it’s important to take care of yourself!

  1. I completely agree with you.I am a first time mom and no one told me about these things such as lack of sleep till I get tired before I gave birth. 🙂

    1. Why don’t people warn us!!! Maybe because you won’t believe it until you’re in the middle of it…
