Creamy and Easy Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese
Do you ever wonder why macaroni and cheese is such a fabulous comfort food?
Comfort foods are the foods that remind you of your childhood — like that square box of macaroni and cheese.
Plus macaroni and cheese is a fairly simple food that is commonly high in carbohydrates.
When carbohydrates are broken down in our bodies, they turn to glucose and that glucose helps create serotonin in our bodies, which gives us a feeling of happiness.
If you feel like switching things up, you can add a little extra oomph to your slow cooker macaroni and cheese.
For example, add in diced cooked veggies (like carrots) or make this comfort food fancy with some lobster.
My husband is a hot sauce nut — his favorite thing to add would be diced up jalapeños!
- 3 cups cooked macaroni noodles
- 3 cups shredded Mexican style cheese combo
- 2 cups evaporated milk
- 1 Tbsp butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Step 1: Combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Lightly spray your slow cooker with oil — you’re really going to want to considering all of the cheese!
Step 3: Pour the mixture into your slow cooker and set on low.
Step 4: Cook for 4 to 5 hours covered, stirring several times during cooking.
