Children’s Planet Books

My youngest son has had a rocket ship on his wall since he was a baby… perhaps that’s why he’s so fascinated with space.

As he’s gotten older, we’ve moved past the baby board books to fun stories and informative books about planets.

Planet Books for Kids

The Planets

Featuring all-new 3D models built using data gathered by NASA and the European Space Agency, The Planets is an awe-inspiring journey through the Solar System, from Earth to Mars and beyond.

Viewed layer by layer, planets and other objects in the Solar System are taken out of the night sky and presented on a white background, revealing every detail of their surface and internal anatomy in astonishing detail.

Looking at planets, the Sun, hundreds of moons and thousands of asteroids and comets, The Planets includes timelines that chronicle all major Space missions, right up to the latest Mars rovers, and infographics that present fascinating facts about all planets and the Solar System in a fresh new way.

13 Planets: The Latest View of the Solar System (National Geographic Kids)

First, Pluto left. Then it came back, along with Ceres and Eris…and now Haumea and MakeMake, too! The recent actions of the International Astronomical Union have put every solar system book out of date.

In response, National Geographic joins forces with David Aguilar of the Harvard Smithsonian Astronomical Observatory to revise our 2008 book — and to update young readers on the high-interest topic of space.

Using simple text and spectacular photorealistic computer art by the author, this book profiles all 13 planets in their newly created categories — plus the sun, the Oort Cloud, comets, and other worlds being discovered.

Planets (LEGO Nonfiction) A LEGO Adventure in the Real World:

Blast off with the LEGO minifigures through our solar system and beyond! See incredible stars and planets and find out the latest space facts — from water on Mars to Planet X.

The LEGO minifigures put the fun into facts. You’ll find great LEGO building ideas, too!

Planets, Moons and Stars: Take-Along Guide (Take Along Guides)

A terrific introduction to the world of planets, moons, and stars including identification information, educational activities, and fun facts.

Scholastic True or False: Planets

Fun, photographic nonfiction at its best, from the authors of the successful Question and Answer series.

Scholastic True or False is a science series in a fun question-and-answer format aimed at 2nd and 3rd graders.

The Planet Gods: Myths and Facts About the Solar System

Distinguished astronomer and writer Dr. Jacqueline Mitton takes us on a fascinating tour of the planets of our Solar System, taking into account all the latest reclassifications of the heavens.

A lyrical, poetic text explores the features of the planets and compares them to the gods of old who are their namesakes.

Though many of the planets were named long before we had good scientific information about them, Mitton draws readers attention to some amazing coincidences.

Let’s Explore the Solar System (Planets)

Do you know that you live in a galaxy so big you are but a speck in its total existence?

This beautiful picture book features the magnificent solar system and its planets.

Here, you will learn about all the planets and the characteristics that make life possible or impossible in them.

Space Encyclopedia: A Tour of Our Solar System and Beyond (National Geographic Kids)

Presenting the latest exciting findings on space exploration and research and cutting-edge, spectacular views of the universe that technology is bringing back to Earth, all in one ultimate reference book.

Authored by David A. Aguilar of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, the National Geographic Space Encyclopedia is ideal for the family bookshelf, providing both accessible information for school reports and compelling reading on the mysteries beyond our world.

Planets

Take a trip through the solar system and discover what¹s really up in the sky!

Packed with fascinating facts about planets, comets, asteroids and more, Planets is a galaxy of fun for young astronomers… and everybody who gazes at the night sky!
