Frog Books for Kids
There is a local pond with a stream that we visit every Spring to try and see the tadpoles.
Later in the season, we love walking along the pond trying to spot the frogs — often you have to spy their eyeballs just sticking out of the mud.
The best way to find them is listen for their croaking.
FROG BOOKS FOR KIDS
In this very silly story with a sly message, told in hilarious dialogue between a feisty young frog and his heard-it-all-before father, young readers will identify with little Frog’s desire to be something different, while laughing along at his stubborn yet endearing schemes to prove himself right.
Frog wants to be anything but a slimy, wet frog. A cat, perhaps. Or a rabbit. An owl?
When a hungry wolf arrives — a wolf who HATES eating frogs — our hero decides that maybe being himself isn’t so bad after all.
From the Okefenokee Swamp comes a frog with a wide mouth that he just loves to use.
He’s particularly interested in the eating habits of other creatures found in the great outdoors — that is, of course, until he comes upon a big green one with lots of teeth who finds wide-mouthed frogs simply delicious.
From Tadpole to Frog is a lovely first look at this amazing metamorphosis.
Female frogs lay masses of jelly-coated eggs in the water, but what hatches from each egg isn’t a frog yet — it’s a tadpole.
Tadpoles are likely tiny fish that breathe underwater through gills.
As the tadpole gets older, it loses its fishy tail and its gills and grows legs and develops lungs. The tadpole has become a frog.
In I’m a Frog! Piggie has some ribbiting news!
Can Gerald make the leap required to accept Piggie’s new identity?
The frog does not want to sit on a log. Doing his best to find an alternative place to sit, the frog asks the cat a litany of questions.
For every answer the cat has, the frog has another question — until the frog finds out what dogs sit on!

In spring, when City Dog runs free in the country for the first time, he spots Country Frog sitting on a rock, waiting for a friend.
“You’ll do,” Frog says, and together they play Country Frog games.
Through the seasons, whenever City Dog visits the country he runs straight for Country Frog’s rock.
In winter, things change for City Dog and Country Frog.
Come spring, friendship blooms again, a little different this time
Where is Hoppity Frog? Is he playing in the reeds? No, that’s Downy Duckling.
Is he paddling through the pond? No, that’s Silky Swan!
Children will love pushing out the sturdy sliders on each page of this board book until they find Hoppity Frog!
Did you know that a frog can jump 20 times its body length?
Or that an ant can lift an object 50 times its own weight?
By applying these ratios and proportions to their own bodies, readers will discover what they could do if they had the amazing abilities of animals.
Five very hungry frogs are sitting on a very special log eating some most delicious bugs.
But something is making them jump right back in the water.
Sing along with paired text and music as you count backward from five to find out why.
