Grilled Lemon Garlic Shrimp Recipe
Shrimp often gets overlooked for summer grilling recipes, and I really don’t know why.
I do wonder if it’s because a lot of families didn’t grow up cooking with shrimp at home.
Being a girl who grew up on the East Coast, we even used to boil shrimp for the Friday night high school party. It was just part of the culture.
Living in the Midwest, however, I realize that it’s not commonplace for a lot of folks.
Come on, the last time you probably thought about grilling shrimp was when you were trying out your latest Australian accent — “Put another shrimp on the barbie.”

Grilled Lemon Garlic Shrimp
For this grilled lemon garlic shrimp dish, we add several dashes of chili powder, but don’t be fooled.
It doesn’t add kick to these kabob beauties. Instead, it adds a touch of zest.
Also, you’ve probably noticed your grocery store offering up frozen shrimp.
I highly recommend you don’t turn up your nose… a lot of the shrimp you’ll find in the fish case was previously frozen as well.
And the bagged frozen shrimp can be a lot less expensive (and much more budget friendly).
If you don’t have time to thaw the shrimp overnight, a great trick is to place the shrimp under running cold water in a colander for 5 minutes.

These look delicious! I’m on the Gulf Coast, and I come across people, not from here of course, that are afraid to cook shrimp. They’re just not familiar with it. Shrimp is a way of life here and we eat it all the time! Thanks for the recipe!
Yes! I grew up on the East Coast. Now that I’m in the Midwest, I’m surprised that people find it “exotic” to cook shrimp and even lobster. I think it’s what people are exposed to. With shipping nowadays, you can get fresh seafood any time, any where!
