Is the Step2 Whisper Ride II Worth Buying?
All buyers of the Whisper Ride II liked the fact that the handle can be moved for easy transportation and that the car hood opens for easy toy or snack storage. Toddlers that get easily bored in a stroller, like the ‘big kid’ look of the car but parents can still push them around and not have to worry about toting around a small child in their arms.
The main claim to fame of the Whisper Ride II is that the wheels are said to be a lot quieter than traditional plastic tires and all parents agreed.
However, almost every customer experienced moderate to severe problems when it came to assembling the Step2 Whisper Ride II. Some people had missing parts, some people had broken parts and some people had parts that just didn’t fit. The instructions do lot label each individual piece and consist of just a series of pictures or diagrams, with no written help. Tools are need, such as hammers and screwdrivers, but many people needed saws and files in order to make the pieces fit correctly.
Most customers said it took about an hour to assemble the car, with some taking as long as two hours depending on how bad the included parts were. Some grandparents could not put the car together due to lack of strength and others simply gave up and returned the item. The smaller gripes included the wheels that do not turn and that there are only three cup holders, not six, like the product description states.
If you are willing to take a chance on the assembly time and parts included, this little car may be worth it. If you do not feel like spending an hour or two of your time putting the Step2 Whisper Ride II together, it may be a better idea to just buy one used but assembled or look for another model with less problems. The scooter comes fully assembled and can be used right out of the box.
