Need a New Appliance? Make It Easy. Meet with an Expert!

January 20, 2016 by Mommy Evolution 2 Comments

Buying a new appliance can be overwhelming, but it shouldn’t be.

You can make it easy by meeting with an expert, asking any and all questions you have before purchasing.

A special thanks to Sears Home Appliances and Services for sponsoring this post and giving me a reason to officially research new refrigerators.

Need a New Appliance? Meet with an Expert

I have been wanting a new refrigerator ever since we moved into our house… eight year ago.

I’ve been patient.

I’ve waited for the right time to get serious about a new fridge.

Before this month, I hadn’t done much research.

My time is precious, and I don’t have time going to store, hoping to catch a sales person during a quiet moment and then realizing that person can’t answer even half of my questions!

Then I learned Sears Home Appliances and Services lets me make an appointment online to talk to an expert in-person at my local Sears store. With their online scheduling, I can tell the system which appliances I want to learn about and they hook me up with the right person from the get go.

Meet with a Sears Expert. Schedule an appointment online!

See that blue arrow? That’s where you click to make a appointment to talk with an expert in your local Sears store.

From the online schedule, I could pick the day or days I was available, as well as the time slots. Within half an hour, I received a telephone call from one of Sear’s refrigerator experts. I had said I would be interested in a same-day appointment if available and Steve, the expert, told me to come right in.

Expert Scheduling

As I get older, the things that get me excited have definitely changed! Walking into the refrigerator section, I felt like a kid in a candy store! Oh the beauty of it all! And it turned out they were having a great sale.

Check online for their current prices… the fridge I’m coveting is still on sale. It’s a French-door beauty. If you’d like to buy it for me, please let me know. Ha!

I asked what felt like a million questions. Steve was patient with me, answered every single one of my questions… but then threw me for a loop when he asked me some questions.

One thing I didn’t realize is there are different depths for refrigerators. After I explained where our fridge is, he told me I probably have a fridge that is cabinet-depth and that I should measure it at home to make sure. Yep…. I have one of the more shallow fridges! Suddenly, my game plan has changed.

The fridge I really would love isn’t an option! To get the amount of interior space I’d like in a fridge, I would have to go wider, which would mean taking up some storage space in our kitchen. It’s tempting… and something to seriously consider when it’s time to truly upgrade our appliance.

I have to hand it to the Sears expert! I love it when an associate is able to answer all of my questions — but the fact that Steve knew to ask me questions I hadn’t even considered won me over. That’s when you know you’re working with someone who really knows their stuff.

You know it’s easy enough to make an appointment with a Sears Home Appliances and Services rep, so what are you waiting for?

Measuring the fridge to see what sizes would work is something I would forget to do on the first trip to a store! I’ve managed to forget to do similar tasks for other purchases as well, and it’s always followed by a moment of “man, I should have remembered that” and “I knew I was supposed to do that!” – luckily enough, the person helping you in store was upfront and actually asked you (I can imagine there are some sales people in the world who wouldn’t)!

Seriously, I NEVER would have thought that refrigerators come in different sizes and depths. It never even occurred to me! Thank goodness the associate was smart enough to ask 🙂
