As if we weren’t excited enough for the release of The LEGO® NINJAGO® Movie, now I learn that I can help my kiddos become math ninjas with an awesome in-school program, which is just as much fun to do at home, too!
A special thanks to Scholastic and Warner Bros. Ent, who have partnered together for a STEM-based educational program for kids grades 2-6, for sponsoring this post and letting me share with you these awesome activities.
The overall theme is “finding your inner ninja,” which includes solving programs, facing challenges and being strong in character.
Finding Your Inner Ninja –LEGO® NINJAGO® Activities
I took Seido Karate for a number of years… right through my pregnancy with my first kiddo who’s now 11!
One of the key components of our training was always about finding inner peace while doing the movements. I’ve carried that belief that we should feel comfortable in our movements and choices. Now fast forward to a family!
My regular readers will know that my son has ADHD… it makes getting ready in the morning exhausting. Even though he entered 5th grade this year, mornings can still be a struggle.
For us, trying to find our inner ninja often means figuring out ways to find systems that give us inner peace rather than chaos.
This year, I said to him… “What can I do to help you be successful in the morning?” Lately he’s been into writing lists… lists of things he wants, lists of items he needs to do.
So we bought a white board, hung it up in the kitchen and wrote down every single thing he needs to do before school. We even wrote down “zip up backpack” to make sure everything was inside.
He’s had such a wonderful week so far! He likes checking everything off of his list… and I like not having to remind him. It’s definitely added a sense of order to our morning routine.
Be a Math Ninja In-School Program
Whether you’re a teacher or a parent that wants educational activities to do for homeschooling or after school, definitely check out this wonderful STEM-based educational program! There are loads of fun LEGO® NINJAGO® Activities that you can easily do in the classroom or at home.
We’re always on the search for interesting educational activities to do with the kids on the weekend.
We’re looking forward to trying out the fun zip-line building activity! We haven’t tried the real thing with the kids… and creating our own sounds like a great introduction to how zip-lines work. And besides, it’s a great way to spend some quality time with the kiddos.
Family Photo Sweepstakes
In addition to this fun activities to connect with your kids, Scholastic is hosting a Family Photo Sweepstakes where you can take or upload a photo that demonstrates your families’ strength of character, body and mind. Participants will be entered automatically for a chance to win fantastic prizes.
Ten Grand Prize winners will receive 4tickets to see The LEGO® Ninjago Movie (the “Picture”) in theaters, 1 Picture-themed backpack, 1 Picture-themed hat and a set of 3 LEGO Ninjago Scholastic books!
