Lobsters Wordless Wednesday

February 25, 2014 by Mommy Evolution 34 Comments

lobersters

For Christmas, we received live lobsters!

They weren’t actually in the box we received. Instead, we chose a weekend for them to be delivered.

They arrived in a styrofoam box packed with ice… and they were alive!

The boys were absolutely freaked out and fascinated at the same time.

We kept them in the refrigerator for the night and cooked them up the next evening.

Before preparing them for dinner, I let the boys check out the lobsters more closely.

They were really fascinated with the lobsters’ hard shells and long antennae.

It was a terrific science lesson, talking about what lobsters eat, how/where they live and why they have such hard shells.

Yummy! I love lobster. Were the boys worried about eating them after seeing them crawling around?

They actually refuse seafood…. but not because of the lobsters πŸ™‚ They’ll come around soon enough!

Where’d you get the lobsters from? Hopefully from Maine! We like to race ours. Loser goes into the pot first. πŸ™‚

I remember one year we got lobsters flown in to us from Newfoundland. It was a gift from my step-brother. They were so good! Lobster has to be my favorite sea food of all time. Hope that you enjoyed yours.

Oh, how I love lobsters. But I’ll only eat them in Maine!

It reminds me of the scene from Annie Hall when Diane Keaton and Woody Allen let them loose in the kitchen.

I hope they were delicious, too!

    A fun Wordless Wednesday post!

Well, my boys just refuse to eat seafood in general. Fish is about all they’ll handle right now. But it’s only a matter of time until they figure out how good shrimp and lobster are.

So cool! Every Christmas Eve we have lobster burgers. It has been a tradition in my husband’s family all his life and we carry it on now with our kids.

Our kids always liked going by the seafood area in the grocery store when they were small. It is rather fascinated to see them up close, but I’ll just stick to having lobster in a restaurant. lol

Yeah, it is an undertaking getting them live and then cooking them. This is about as “far out” as I go with cooking food.

What an exciting dinner! Although I would probably make Mr. Sexy cook the lobsters. And I would make the kids help. But I’m not sure I could handle doing that myself. haha I’m really in the mood for lobster now though…
