Oh. Telling a kid it’s too difficult for him makes me crazy. We encourage our kids to keep trying. And if we know it’s beyond where they are right now, we tell them with practice they’ll get there.

Negative reinforcement just creates that negative voice we all hear when self-doubt bubbles up.

But I often cringe when I hear the negative things that are so often said to children from a very young age, “you can’t do that”, “that’s too difficult for you” and the list goes on. It’s hard to shake off that sort of negativity.
