If you do not give the meds to him on the weekends, you will develop resentment. I lived with my son’s ADHD for years. It is a miserable condition for parents too. I suspect his childhood is a reason we do not have a good relationship now. As much as you love him, it is normal to resent his out of control behaviors.
Spare yourself. And spare you son from your inward hostility. He will pick up on it. If you can have a “normal” life, it’s what you both deserve!

I have been on Vyvanse for several years now. I’m so thankful for it, since Adderall XR made me manic depressive (ie, it didn’t fade out, it crashed you) and my body just wasn’t responding to the Concerta like it used to.
I was diagnosed with ADD and Sensory Integration after kindergarten. I started taking ballet lessons and piano lessons as a form of therapy to help with my SPD. I’m 33, and still take ballet lessons, when I can.

I’ve been dealing with this issue in reverse with my 4 year old son. He has ADHD but I’m convinced that there is something else going on he’s dealing with. We even had him tested for autism because I thought it might even be high functioning autism disorder. This was the first post I’ve read but I plan on reading every single thing this site offers.
